What is a DC Microgrid?

A DC microgrid is a localized power distribution network that operates primarily on direct current (DC) instead of alternating current (AC) power. It’s made up of different parts, like batteries or fuel cells, that produce and use direct current (DC) electricity. DC power is more efficient for certain things, like LED lights and smart building systems. DC Microgrids are also more reliable and be quickly repaired to prevent big power outages.

They’re great for use in smart buildings, where they can work with advanced automation and control systems to save energy and lower costs. DC Microgrids can also be combined with renewable energy sources, like solar and wind power, to create more sustainable energy systems.

How is DC Power Different than AC Power?

DC power, or direct current, exhibits several distinguishing characteristics that set it apart from AC power, or alternating current.
